These pouches were made at one of the annual weekend basket retreats at Olympic Park Institute on Lake Crescent. The one on the left was made from folded cherry outer bark with a handle of cedar root by Sharle. The one on the right was made from woven cherry bark with a braided cherry bark strap by Kathey.

Sharle made this hat entirely out of bark from the log it's resting on in the photo. The cedar log is still lying near where it grew along Old Olympic Hwy. near Siebert's Creek. Clallam County rerouted the road over a new bridge at this stream. During the con(de)struction we (with permission) salvaged some bark and roots from the site in the evenings.
